2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar (Georgetown, TX) – Access Guide

At A Glance

With advance planning and staff assistance, dining at 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar worked well for us using a mobility scooter. Accessibility was strongest in the more open front seating area, while other parts of the restaurant are more tightly arranged and less accommodating. When seated in the appropriate section, the environment was comfortable and allowed us to enjoy a relaxed meal. We would recommend the food based on our experience.

Accessibility Rating: Mixed

Some accessible features, but noticeable challenges exist.

What We Observed

Parking

Parking in this area is shared across a dense shopping and dining complex. There are four accessible parking spaces serving the overall area rather than the restaurant specifically. Two accessible spaces are located across the street from the restaurant, with a striped access aisle between them. Two additional accessible spaces are located in the row next to the restaurant, a short distance from the front entrance, also with a striped access aisle between the spaces.

We parked in one of the accessible spaces across the street from the restaurant. Getting a mobility scooter out of the back of the vehicle required briefly positioning the scooter closer to the street, which could be a consideration depending on traffic conditions. Fortunately, the street was not busy at the time of our visit. There is no marked or striped pedestrian crossing at that location to alert drivers that pedestrians or mobility device users may be crossing. It would have been possible to travel farther down the street to cross using a scooter, but in this case Esko did not have his scooter with him, which made that option less practical.

The restaurant’s website references valet parking; however, during our visit we did not see any valet signage, marked valet area, or active valet service. We drove around the area multiple times to check. There is a gated driveway immediately next to the restaurant that may be intended for valet use, but it was closed at the time of our visit. The website also mentions parking at the nearby Sheraton hotel. While that distance may be manageable using a mobility scooter, it would have been challenging on foot, and we did not see signage indicating how hotel parking connects to the restaurant area.

Because the accessible parking spaces serve the entire complex, availability will likely depend on time of day. During busier periods, finding close accessible parking could be difficult.

Entrance

The main entrance is located along the street-facing side of the building and is accessed directly from the sidewalk. The primary entrance consists of two dark-colored doors that are fairly heavy and would be difficult to open independently while using a mobility scooter. There were no automatic doors or push-button openers visible at the entrance.

During our visit, a hostess was present and opened the door for us, which made entry manageable. Without staff assistance, entering through these doors would likely be challenging for someone using a scooter or wheelchair.

There are two additional doors located to the left of the main entrance, closer to the outdoor dining area. On the day we visited, these doors were not open to guests and appeared to be used by staff to carry food to the outdoor tables. These doors also have manual handles and were not available as an alternative entry point.

Surfaces

Flooring throughout the restaurant consists of smooth, hard surfaces that were easy to navigate using a mobility scooter. Area rugs were present only near the main entrance and at the interior doors leading into the dining area. These rugs were low profile and did not interfere with scooter movement or cause any difficulty during our visit. We did not encounter any abrupt changes in surface height or transitions that required extra effort or repositioning.

Interior Layout & Table Spacing

The dining area includes a mix of tables and booths, along with a separate bar area that features tall chairs and higher counters. We were seated at a table near the front of the dining room, close to the interior doors, where there was a wide open space beside the table that allowed room to comfortably park a mobility scooter without obstructing walkways or staff movement. This seating location worked well for us.

Access to this seating area required passing through interior doors that were open at the time of our visit and did not present any difficulty. Table spacing in this section of the restaurant was more open than in other areas. In contrast, tables located closer to the booths and the bar area were more densely arranged, and the bar seating itself uses high chairs that would not be suitable for most mobility scooter users.

Outdoor seating is available and appeared well spaced, with tables positioned along the sidewalk. These tables were not open on the day of our visit due to cold weather, but they would likely be a good option for scooter users when weather permits.

If you plan to visit with a mobility scooter, calling ahead and making a reservation is strongly recommended. Letting the restaurant know in advance allows them to seat you in the more open section of the dining area where scooter parking is manageable. Without advance notice, available seating may be limited to tighter areas near booths or the bar, which could be difficult to navigate with a scooter.

Restrooms

We did not access the restrooms at this visit.

Crowds

At the time of our visit, the restaurant was active but not overly crowded. In the seating section near the front where we were seated, the environment was relatively quiet, and we were able to hear each other comfortably while talking. There was normal background chatter from other guests, but it did not interfere with conversation or feel overwhelming.

The central portion of the restaurant and the bar area were noticeably noisier, with more people gathered and higher overall activity. Guests who are sensitive to noise or who prefer a calmer dining environment may find the outer seating areas away from the bar to be more comfortable, particularly during busier dining periods.

Assistance & Staff

Staff interactions throughout our visit were friendly and attentive. The front desk staff greeted us upon arrival, held the door when we entered and exited, and acknowledged the birthday note that had been included when the reservation was made by wishing me a happy birthday as we arrived.

Our server was welcoming and engaging with everyone at the table. Ordering was efficient, and food arrived promptly. The server checked in with us several times during the meal and provided drink refills without needing to be asked, which contributed to a relaxed and unrushed dining experience.

Although the birthday note was acknowledged at the front desk, it did not appear to carry through to table service, and there was no further acknowledgment during the meal.

Best Times to Visit

We visited during a quieter dining period, which made navigation and conversation more comfortable. Seating near the front of the restaurant was calmer than the central dining area and bar, where activity and noise levels were higher. Choosing an earlier time or a non-peak dining window may increase the likelihood of being seated in one of the more open sections of the restaurant.

Because accessible parking and more scooter-friendly seating areas are limited and shared across the surrounding complex, visiting earlier in the day or outside of peak meal times may make it easier to find closer parking and request a table with adequate space for a mobility scooter.

Food Highlights

We would confidently recommend the food at 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar based on both this visit and repeat takeout orders. The Steak & Arugula salad is Esko’s favorite, featuring grilled Angus steak paired with arugula, fruit, nuts, and bleu cheese for a flavorful but balanced option. The Texas Pecan salad with pecan-crusted chicken is Evie’s favorite, offering a satisfying mix of sweet and savory flavors with apples, cranberries, bleu cheese, and avocado. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, reinforcing our positive experience at this restaurant.
