Calloway’s Nursery (Cedar Park, TX) – Access Guide

At A Glance

This is one of the most accessible nurseries we’ve visited in the area. We visited Calloway’s Nursery to purchase plants for our patio, and the layout, wide aisles, smooth surfaces, and covered outdoor areas made it easy to navigate with mobility scooters, while staff support was consistently thoughtful and proactive.

If you plan to purchase flats of plants or larger items, asking for assistance is recommended. Staff were readily available and happy to help with selection, staging, and loading, which made the overall experience smooth and manageable.

Based on our experience, this is a location we plan to revisit during future planting seasons.

Accessibility Rating: Good

Accessible with minor considerations or small adjustments.

What We Observed

Parking

The parking lot is on a slight slant leading away from the nursery, rather than being fully level. The section closest to the building was flat and smooth and is where the four accessible parking spaces are located near the entrance. Parking farther away may be more of a consideration if you need additional space for unloading or if walking longer distances is difficult.

We did not see any van-accessible parking spaces with a striped access aisle for unloading from the side of the vehicle. However, we visited on a quiet morning, and the lot was mostly empty, which made unloading manageable.

We parked close to the building, and the driving lane behind the parking spaces was wide enough for Evie to use the rear lift to unload her scooter without issue. On a busier day, unloading from the back of the vehicle could require waiting briefly for passing cars to clear.

Curb cutouts connect the parking area to the entrance, and we stayed within the parking lot to follow a smooth, gently graded path into the nursery. Because the accessible parking spaces are directly adjacent to the building, there was no need for a marked pedestrian path to reach the entrance.

Entrances

There is one main entrance into the nursery. The entrance is wide, open, and covered, without doors, which made entry and exit with mobility scooters straightforward.

Surfaces

Surfaces throughout the nursery are primarily smooth concrete, which worked well for our mobility scooters and made it easy to move through the space without extra effort.

As expected in a nursery setting, some areas may be wet during or after watering. During our visit, we did not encounter hoses blocking pathways, and we did not have any difficulty rolling through wet sections.

Aisle Space & Shelving

Aisles throughout the nursery are wide and easy to navigate with mobility scooters, with enough space to move comfortably between displays and make turns without difficulty.

Some larger carts are used by staff and customers, and during busier periods, navigating around them may require extra maneuvering. During our visit, staff were attentive to traffic flow and worked carefully around customers while moving or staging items.

The larger pottery displays are stored on tall shelving that is above typical scooter reach, and assistance would likely be needed to select or remove these heavier pots. In contrast, flower aisles and plant tables are positioned at a height that is generally reachable from a mobility scooter, allowing for independent browsing and selection.

Restrooms

We did not access the restrooms at this visit.

Crowds

The store was relatively quiet at the time of this visit, which made it easier to move through aisles, displays, and checkout areas without needing to navigate around other shoppers or blocked pathways.

Based on the layout and seasonal displays, higher crowd levels would likely change the experience, particularly near the front of the store, in high-traffic aisles, and during restocking or peak shopping times.

Checkout

The checkout counter is higher than scooter height, so we did need assistance during checkout. Staff handled this seamlessly and without hesitation. We remained on our scooters while the associate managed the transaction from their side of the counter.

Payment was straightforward—we simply handed over our card, and everything else was handled for us. The process was efficient, respectful, and never felt awkward or rushed.

Overall, while the counter itself is not scooter-height accessible, the staff support made checkout easy and stress-free.

Assistance & Store Associates

Store associates were readily available throughout the nursery and proactive about offering help. From the moment we entered, assistance was offered without being intrusive, and support continued through selection, checkout, and loading.

For smaller items, it was possible to browse independently. For larger items or flats of plants, assistance is recommended, as handling bulk purchases while using a mobility scooter is not practical.

What stood out most was the continuity of service. A single associate assisted from entry through checkout, gathering options, explaining choices, helping with staging, assisting at the register, and helping load plants into the vehicle. Home delivery was also offered as an option.

Overall, the level of assistance was knowledgeable and supportive, making the visit feel well-managed rather than transactional.

Best Times to Visit

Based on our experience, weekdays tend to be a good time to visit Calloway’s Nursery. The store was calm and uncrowded during our weekday visit, which made it easier to receive assistance and move through the space.

Weekends are typically more crowded, which can make navigating the nursery and receiving personalized assistance more challenging.

Fun Find

One of the simple joys of our visit was spotting the decorative planters scattered throughout the nursery. From playful ceramic figures to colorful, eye-catching containers, these little surprises were tucked in among the plants and made browsing feel fun and inspiring.

Even if you’re focused on plants, it’s worth keeping an eye out for these details—they can spark ideas and make the visit feel a little more joyful.
